By using a Hoya or Kenko camera Filter you can adjust color, color enhancement. Hoya and Kenko filters can alter the view before the camera. Camera filters by Hoya or Kenko create on film the image the photographer sees in his mind. Use Hoya to make great Photos! The selection of the proper filter is actually far more important than any choice of lens or camera. The camera filter has a large and real effect on your image. You need a good camera filter even with your digital camera and photoshop. Polarizers and grad filters need to be used due to electronic photography. White balance settings can be dialed in on most digital cameras but you can use a warming filter for a better photograph. The more you learn about photography the more you will learn that artificial filters and manipulation are required to make a natural looking image. If you use a lot of filtration, manipulation, burning and dodging to compensate for the human eye and brain's image processing to create an image on paper that looks like a natural picture. Ordinary film can see UV even though your eyes can not. There is much to be gained by filtering UV out of the picture. Due to the very short wavelengths involved the UV band carries more than its fair share of atmospheric scatter. Purple fringing typically appears as a multipixel band of bright purple surrounding the edges of dark objects cast against a bright background. It is likely a high-order lens aberration akin to but different from chromatic aberration which produces soft red and green fringes on opposite sides of affected objects.

Hoya camera filter is a camera accessory consisting of an optical filter that can be inserted in the optical path.

Hoya camera filters are commonly used in black and white photography to manipulate image contrast. For example a yellow camera filter will enhance the contrast between clouds and sky by darkening the latter. The sky as a darker blue is such a vibrant outstanding picture. Orange and red filters will have a stronger effect.

Take a look at what camera filters can do for your photos! Camera filters are transparent or translucent optical elements that alter the properties of light entering the camera lens. They can affect contrast, sharpness, highlight flare, color, and light intensity, individually, or in combination. There are also All of the products on our site come with an explanation for their primary use. Just click the magnifying glass next to the filter for it's properties. The most basic and by far one of the most important Camera filters is the simple UV or skylight. Designed primarily to absorb stray ultraviolet light, the most useful feature is as a protector for the camera lens. It is far less expensive to replace a cracked camera filter, than it is to replace a cracked lens. Take care of your camera lens with camera filters and enjoy beautiful photos that last a lifetime.

The polarizing Hoya camera filter gives perhaps the most bang for the buck. Polarizing camera filters spin so you can rotate them around to just the right angle to cancel out indirect light waves that are out of phase with the direct light waves. The camera filter allows you to stop the light that is bouncing off of a lake, snow or window.

The Tiffen "enhancing Filter" is a combination of rare earth elements in glass. It completely removes a portion of the spectrum in the orange region. The effect is to increase the color saturation intensity of certain brown, orange and reddish objects by eliminating the muddy tones and maximizing the crimson and scarlet components.

Whatever you decide to use, make sure you have something to protect the front of your lens. Give camera filters a try, and you'll discover the secret to getting better photos.

Such as diffusion camera filters or color-effect camera filters, are also widely used to enhance mood or dramatic effects. Most photographic filters are made up of two pieces of optical glass glued together with some form of image or light manipulation material between the glass. In the case of color filters, there is often a translucent color medium pressed between two planes of optical glass. Color filters work by blocking out certain color wavelengths of light from reaching the film. With color film, this works very intuitively wherein a blue filter will cut down on the passage of red, orange and yellow light and create a blue tint on the film. In black and white photography, color filters are used somewhat counter intuitively; for instance a yellow filter, which cuts down on blue wavelengths of light, can be used to darken a daylight sky (by eliminating blue light from hitting the film, thus greatly underexposing the mostly blue sky), while not biasing most human flesh tone. Color involves knowing more about light sources than is necessary for black-and-white imaging. Sunlight, daylight, exterior lighting at different times a day, incandescent, fluorescent, as well as other artificial sources, all have color characteristics that vary significantly. We see images through our eyes only after they are processed by our brain, which has the ability to make certain adjustments to the way we see color. White will still appear white to the eye in various lighting, so long as we don't have more than one type visible at a time. Film has no such internal compensation. It is designed to see only a certain type of light as well as white - all others will appear different to the extent of their difference. Filters are required to provide the necessary fine-tuning. Knowing that light is a form of energy, we can theoretically view it as energy emitted from a hot object, usually termed a 'black body', that gives off light as a function of its temperature. The color of that light can be measured in degrees kelvin (1k). The normally encountered types of light can be categorized by certain anticipated color temperatures, or can be measured with a color temperature meter. Color Conversion filters are used to correct sizable differences in color temperature between the film and light source. The #80 and #85 (amber) series are frequent outdoor use, in bright sunlight, the #85 and #85B series are also available in combination with various neutral density filters for exposure control. Light balancing filters are used to make minor corrections in color temperature. The #81, #82 (bluish) serious are often used in combination with various neutral density filter for exposure control. They are often used in combination with color Conversion filters.

Certain cinematographers, such as Christopher Doyle, are well known for their innovative use of camera filters. Filters can be used in front of the lens or, in some cases, behind the lens for different effects.

Camera filters are transparent or translucent optical elements that alter the properties of light entering the camera lens for the purpose of improving the image being recorded. Filters can affect contrast, sharpness, highlight flare, color, and light intensity, either individually, or in various combinations. They can also create a variety of "special effects." It is important to recognize that, even though there are many possibly confusing variations and applications, all filters behave a reasonably predictable way when their properties are understood and experienced. Most of these properties related similarly to filter use in both film and video imaging. The following will explain the basic optical characteristics of Hoya and certain other types of filters, as well as their applications. It is a foundation upon which to build by experience. Textual data cannot fully inform. There is always something new out there. In their most successful applications, camera filter effects blend in with the rest of the image to help get the message across. Use caution when using a camera filter in a way that draws attention to itself as an effect. Combined with all the other elements of image-making, camera filters make visual statements, manipulate emotions and thought, and make believable what otherwise would not be. Have fun, get into your photos!
